The COVID-19 pandemic has focused global attention and resources on improving public health reporting systems. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) is running a joint nationwide effort intended to strengthen public health data collection, standardization and automation that includes the development of an electronic case reporting (eCR) application. Cerner adopted the new FHIR application, eCR Now, in 2020 and began testing and deployment at LMH Health (LMH), which resulted in a go live in April 2021 and general availability in July 2021. This breakout session will review eCR Now and Cerner's eCR solution, discuss the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rule requiring eCR attestation for Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program incentive payments in 2022, and share LMH’s experience and outcomes using the app.
The speakers, content managers, and planners from Cerner Corporation do not have any relevant financial interests to disclose.
